Death Blooms for Florists

January 21, 2022

Have you noticed how many are dying today? My wife cannot find sympathy cards in stores. We have several departures and many more must be mourning losses now. Her florist buddies cannot keep up with demand for wakes and funerals. The grim volume of death is not only due to age.

Our economy has always dealt with the average number of deaths for our population. Too many are dying earlier than their normal life span. What about those left behind? There are children without a parent or sadly without both parents. These surviving children cannot grasp the future without both parents. Now these children must adapt to a loss that should not have ever happened. The current regime in China is responsible for concealing their Wuhan Pandemic.

Blaming anyone does not deal with the problems of a future with too many dying early. Some are only a few years early, but many are decades early based on average life span. In our little parish church in the north woods of Wisconsin, we have the priests busy to schedule several funerals every week. How many tears can be shed in just a few years of death? This must have long lasting effects on all of us who have mourned too many in this short period of time.

We attempt to respond with traditional gestures. If you cannot find a printed card for loss, or flowers to show affection than it frustrates many of us. We do not want to just throw dirt on a coffin or scatter ashes from a crematory urn. How about planting a flower garden with the name of your deceased on the garden? How about hosting a gathering picnic in honor of the deceased this summer? I do NOT accept using Facebook posts as a substitute for genuine interaction in person.

Wuhan Pandemic came to every corner of world.

This process will affect us all through the orphaned children as they mature. This photograph may not amuse these victims who suffered a loss.
