whiffenpoofs from Yale keep singing along!

September 22, 2011
Founded in 1909 as a Yale tradition.

In 1909 at Yale seniors decided fitting that a quartet of vocal seniors entertain at Mory’s Temple Bar (a saloon).  That was the simple beginning of a glorious and long tradition that extends to 2011.

“We are poor little lambs, who have gone astray!  Bah, bah, bah!”
There is humorous irony in the innocent proclamation that we are poor little lambs parked in a bar with plenty of beer to drink.  Of course the excuse is that we have been led astray.   The humor is that these fine young lads wanted to be led astray to enjoy the company of fellow lost lambs with beer and fun.
Long live the whiffenpoofs!  Tavern life is the foundation of our country, since our country is in the depths of unemployment and blind leadership taking us further down.
